Sir Knight in Focus

July 2009 - Sir Knight William F. Presley

SK William F. Presley was born in Washington State on September, 28, 1930. He took his First Degree on February 1, 1961 with Council #879, San Jose, one of the oldest in the State of California. He is the Warden of his council and had served quite a few times in the past in the same capacity. He joined the Fourth Degree, Portola Assembly on April 22, 1995, where he has been a regular attendee at the dinner meetings. He had been a member of the Portaliers (choir) for five years until the group disbanded due to passing of the directors and other members. The choir just faded away.

SK Bill worked at the Kaiser Cement Plant in the hills for 30 ½ years. He retired in 1989. SK Bill loves to dance but prefers bowling which he throws 165, average. In his spare time he reads and indulges in cross word puzzles. SK Bill may say few words but is a man of action. He makes himself available in the kitchen after dinner and takes care of SK John Malone's transportation home after the meeting.

When asked to sub for an excused officer during the assembly meeting, he jumps right in. SK Bill has belonged to St. Joseph Cathedral Parish since 1958. His regular attendance to the celebration of Mass for the unborn every year at Santa Clara Mission attests to his belief of protecting the unborn. Furthermore, he would not support gay or same marriage although he remains single.

Bill's consistent attendance to the assembly meetings is an example of a Sir Knight finding times to support his brother Sir Knights keeping the Assembly alive. We wish him good health and appreciate his presence at the meetings.
