Membership

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal organization. To become a member, one must be a Catholic man, in communion with the Holy See, over 18 years if age. Members are inducted into the First Degree by their home council, which serves one or more parishes of the local dioceses.

Membership in the Fourth Degree is limited to Knights of Columbus who have completed the first three Degrees of the order and have passed the first anniversary of the date of their First Degree Ceremonial. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' respective countries through active membership in local Fourth Degree Assemblies. Sir Knights are required to maintain in good standing their membership in their home council to be members of the Fourth Degree.
